Bryan is Aldersgate’s Senior Pastor. He is the husband of Judy, a Montessori teacher at George Watts Elementary School, and the father of Meredith a social worker at Croasdaile Village in Durham. Bryan has served churches as choir director, youth minister, minister of Christian formation, as pastor, and he has been a hospital chaplain. He is passionate about worship and feels privileged to lead Aldersgate’s gifted, diligent, and fun church staff. Bryan is an avid reader, loves a good movie, and is rejuvenated from playing with Sadie, an English Spaniel mix, who chose the Faggarts to be her humans. The scripture that, on his best days, guides his life is Micah 6:8: “…what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.” You can reach Bryan at email@example.com.
For the past 10 years I have been the Director of Aldersgate’s Weekday School and the Afterschool Program. We have over 250 children between the two programs so there is always something exciting happening at the school. I received my degree in Early Childhood Education from Bethany College in California. Growing up a Navy kid I have lived in many different states and countries. My husband Ric and I moved to Durham in 1998 and fell in love with the area.
My two children (or adults as they like to be called) are Becca and Matt. Matt is working on his Fire Technology degree while volunteering at Lebanon Fire Station – he has definitely found his calling. And Becca is in her first year at Elon University to study Exercise Science. She is having a great year so far!
I thoroughly enjoy being with all my students who I feel are my kids. I love to see them out in town at the store or a restaurant after they have graduated from the preschool or afterschool and see how they have grown. The students make me smile every day and bring joy to my life. My desire is that every child who attends Aldersgate knows how special they are to us and to God. Hello friends! I am Lydia Cauley and I am so excited to become part of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. I have been a Methodist since I was born. My father, Rev. Dr. Marty Cauley, is a Methodist Pastor and currently works for the North Carolina Conference. Being a preachers kid means I moved around North Carolina throughout my life. I have lived as far West as Asheville and as far East as Swansboro. I actually went to High School at Charles E. Jordan High School, class of 2007! I graduated from UNC-Asheville with a Bachelors in Drama but I like to keep the drama on the stage and my focus was backstage.
After college I worked as an AmeriCorps volunteer in Detroit for a year and a half and got to work with an amazing group of young people there. I can back to NC and received my Masters of Art in Christian Practice from Duke Divinity in 2015. I love working with youth because they always have the best questions! One of my favorite parts about youth ministry is when we stumble upon a question that we can't find the answer to, so we get to discover it together!
A few other things you may want to know about me...I am a little bit of a nerd. I love Star Wars, I've seen The Last Jedi twice already. I have the dates for movies like Infinity War, Han Solo, and Black Panther all marked on my calendar. I like to read and currently my non-fiction book is Blood Brothers by Elias Chacour and my fiction series is Shadow Hunters.

Henry feels blessed to be a part of the Aldersgate community. He began his musical training at the age of nine as a treble chorister in the North Carolina Boys Choir and has been singing ever since. Henry was raised in the United Methodist Church and has held Choral Scholar and Intern music positions in Catholic, Baptist, and Presbyterian churches while working towards his degrees. He believes that music is an essential part of worship, and that it is one of the most powerful ways to glorify God.
Henry received his BM in Music Education from Furman University and his MM in Choral Conducting from East Carolina University. During his time at Furman, he directed The Twelve Peers, a student ensemble dedicated to the performance of early music and contemporary choral music. While at ECU, he served as a graduate teaching assistant in the School of Music and as Assistant Conductor of the Greenville Choral Society. In August 2018 and 2019, he attended the Yale School of Music Norfolk Choral Workshop as a conducting fellow under Simon Carrington.
Henry is especially interested in early music. He has completed many editions of polyphonic music (including Dunstable, Ockeghem, Tallis, Sheppard, and Victoria), and most recently completed a performing edition of the Michel-Richard deLalande grand motet, Quemadmodum desiderat fontes, which received a premiere performance at the Chorworks Young Artists Summer Course 2019 – a program which he founded alongside Philip Cave. He currently serves as a Staff Singer at Duke Chapel, where he sings in two choirs and performs in the popular Bach Cantata Series. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking, running, and watching sports (especially baseball and college basketball).

Stan has been active as a church musician since the age of ten. He was blessed to have had Christian parents who taught their children by example. Involvement in church was never something that he and his siblings questioned. Stan believes that Music is one of God’s greatest gifts given to us and it can touch hearts where words sometimes fail.
Throughout his career in church and school music programs, he has had the pleasure of working with other capable musicians. This has always been something he especially enjoyed. Stan believes that Music in Praise of our Lord should be of the finest caliber. He feels that church musicians have a responsibility to keep in mind that church members deserve a fair diversity of musical styles when selecting repertoire for church services.
